Li Si's "Executive Supervision" Theory

The theory, which is not summarized from practice, but is fabricated according to the needs of the powerful, is also ancient. After Hu Haijun came to the world, "I want to know what is good in his eyes and ears, and what he wants to be happy", Li Si touched his intestines, and concocted the theory of "executive supervision".

Li Si said: "A husband and a virtuous master must be able to perform the tricks of supervision. Therefore, Shen Zi said:'There is a world, but the world is the fetter. The husband cannot perform the trick of supervision. It is only for the self-satisfaction of the world, but the vain form, the suffering of the gods, and the body for the people. If Yao Yuran, it is the battle of the head of the Guizhou, not the animal world, so it is called the shackles. Only the master can supervise and make arbitrariness. If you are above, the power is not under your ministers, and then you can eliminate the benevolence and righteousness, and you can never argue with admonitions, and you can act arrogantly, but you don’t dare to go against it. In this way, if the people don’t save it, how dare to change!” You Look at this Li Si, quoting the classics, the pros and cons, how eloquent! He said a lot of wrong reason, but he said it plausibly.

I think it is necessary to comment on Li Si's "executive supervision".

One said, "Exterminate benevolence and righteousness." Regarding the responsibilities of the ruler, Li Si used a very vivid term called "Animal Tianxia". This means that the people of the world are beasts. You can drive them to serve you with a whip, you can ride on them as a prestige, and you can slaughter them at any time to meet your own needs. Whenever he talks about "the benevolent loves others", it binds one's hands and feet, at least when doing all these activities that are incompatible with the word "benevolence and justice", they will inevitably reply in shame. Therefore, Li Si asked Hu Hai to "destroy benevolence and righteousness" and simply be a tyrant without any disguise.

Secondly, he said, "The Debate of Absolute Admonition." "Admonishment" means exhortation, criticism, and disagreement. There is a "controversy of admonishment", the patriarchal system is not rigorous enough, and the patriarchal system is not thorough enough. People who engage in patriarchy and the patriarchal system cannot do whatever they want without hesitation at any time, anywhere, and under any circumstances. The "absolute remonstrance argument," even the already pitiful supervision of the ministers kneeling on their knees to give their opinions disappeared. Li Si probably forgot that his "Book of Admonishment" that made him famous for a while is a kind of "remonstrance". If Qin Shihuang had no "controversy of admonition", I am afraid he would have been expelled long ago. Went out of Xianyang. But he is very clear that the so-called "controversy of admonition" is actually going to touch Nilin. Although his remarks to persuade Qin II to "exercise responsibility" on the surface are like "remonstrance", in fact, it is the same as some people today who "criticize" leaders for "not paying attention to rest and nutrition." Say "example."

said three times, "the heart of walking and watching." It is really hard for the ordinary people to imagine how the emperors "saw". If they don't, they will fall into the laughing stock of "If I were an emperor, I would eat fried dough sticks every day." I just read some historical materials, and I know about the Jiu Chi Meat Forest before Hu Hai, the naked men and women of Yuan after Hu Hai, and the large-scale travels of emperors from north to south and west to east by the emperors of almost all generations. But one thing is certain. What Li Si said of "the heart of action" is for Hu Hai to completely indulge himself. He can enjoy himself as he can and squander him as he can. Unfortunately, because of the limitations of the times, Hu Hai could not get on the most high-end imported car, nor could he get into the sauna.

The prerequisite for "executive supervision" is "arbitrarily on top". If you can "dictate to the top", others will "do not dare to go against", so you can "make yourself comfortable with the world", do your own way, and do things in your own way. According to Li Si, a monarch who can reach this level can be called a "mind master" or a "sage master". On the contrary, those who "work out", "suffering gods", and "show the people with their bodies" like Yao and Yu are only serving the "War of the Head of Guizhou", and they only regard the world as their own "fetters", of course. It's no longer a "mind master" or "sage master". This may be very consoling for some corrupt officials and the princes of small countries today, and they even pretend to be "bright masters" and "sage masters", thinking that they know how to be officials. However, whether it is clear or turbid, or faint, what Li Si said cannot be counted. The people have an account in their hearts, and practice has already been tested. Whoever wants to "exercise responsibility" as Li Si said, then he might as well take a look at the result of Hu Hai's "exercise responsibility": "The tormentors are half-hearted, and the dead accumulate in the city every day, and Qin Minyi is afraid of chaos. ." Within a few years after that, the Qin Dynasty came to an end.
