The turning point of the relationship between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu lies in the Hongmen banquet, which has a far-reaching impact on later generations. If Xiang Yu had been ruthless enough to kill Liu Bang directly, the Han Dynasty would not have existed, and Xiang Yu would have dominated the world and become a great treasure. Unfortunately, there is no hypothesis in history. The final result is that Liu Bang successfully escaped, and then developed his own power and defeated Xiang Yu.
At the Hongmen banquet, Liu Bang and his party consisted of six people, including Liu Bang, Zhang Liang, fan Kuai, Xia Houying, Jin Qiang and Ji Xin. Liu Bang has been showing weakness to Xiang Yu and playing emotional cards, which makes Xiang Yu finally unable to do anything. However, he also runs with four people, leaving only Zhang Liang. In that case, the person left is undoubtedly the most dangerous. Why does Liu Bang want to leave Zhang Liang? Is it because he wants Zhang Liang to die?
In fact, it is the best choice to keep Zhang Liang. This should be Liu Bang's decision after careful consideration. First of all, Liu Bang and his party of six people, Liu Bang certainly can't stay. The rest of fan Kuai, Xia Houying and others are all military generals. Although they have some strategies, they can't be put on the table. Zhang Liang is not the same. Zhang Liang is one of the most outstanding counsellors in the Han Dynasty and even the whole feudal dynasty of China. His eloquence is very excellent. Only by leaving him can he explain to Xiang Yu why he left suddenly and stabilize Xiang Yu.
And Zhang Liang's position is special, Liu Bang himself is a little gangster, dozens of years old to become a small official in Surabaya Pavilion. Zhang Liang is not the same. He was originally a Korean, and his ancestors had been in Korea for "five generations." Zhangjia is one of the best in South Korea. Later, when Qin Shihuang destroyed the six countries and Korea ceased to exist, Zhang Jia was also defeated. However, the emaciated camel was bigger than the horse, and Zhang Jia still had a lot of good reputation outside.
Moreover, Zhang Liang himself made a great sensation in the government and the public in his early years, that is, the assassination of Qin Shihuang. Although he did not succeed in the final assassination, he won the world's reputation for Zhang Liang. Coupled with his family background in South Korea, Zhang Liang's reputation is unmatched by Liu Bang's. Therefore, if Zhang Liang stays there, it will give Xiang Yu a sense of fear. He is unwilling and inconvenient to kill Zhang Liang. After all, Zhang Liangmei is too famous. If he kills Zhang Liang, it will only bring him a bad reputation, and it will not hurt Liu Bang.
Another main reason is that Zhang Liang helped Xiang Bo. Xiang Bo killed people in his early years, and he fled with Zhang Liang. Xiang Bo is Xiang Yu's uncle, and Xiang Yu still listens to him. It is precisely because he owes Zhang Liang a favor that Xiang Bo protects Liu Bang at the Hongmen banquet. Naturally, he can't watch Zhang Liang die, so Zhang Liang's stay is undoubtedly the most correct choice.
Why did Xiang Yu win the first 99 times and let Liu Bang win the last?
Sima Qian thinks Xiang Yu is too proud to lose, Ban Gu thinks Liu Bangying is conforming to the people's will; Sima Guang thinks Xiang Yu's failure is due to poor employment, Su Shi thinks Liu Bang's advantage is not to love killing; and many people think that Liu Bang's victory over Xiang Yu is a villain's victory over a gentleman.
