Does King Zhou's "wine pool and meat forest" really exist?

We know that the cause of the fall of the Shang Dynasty is that King Zhou of the Shang Dynasty indulged in the "wine pool and meat forest" all day long. Is there such a wine pool and meat forest in the history of the Shang Dynasty?

In all the historical books before the Han Dynasty, there was no record about King Zhou of Shang Dynasty. The earliest record of this event is Sima Qian's historical records. In the records of the historian Yin Benji, it is described as follows: "Emperor Zhou The great music plays in the sand dunes, with wine as the pool and hanging meat as the forest, which makes men and women chase each other and drink for a long night. " I think this should be the real existence of history. The reasons are as follows:

First, the availability of material conditions. In the Shang Dynasty 3000 years ago, due to the appearance of bronze tools and the hard work of slaves and civilians, agriculture and animal husbandry developed rapidly and accumulated a lot of food and livestock. At the same time, the wine industry is very popular and prosperous, which provides the material basis for the emergence of wine pond and meat forest.

Second, the influence of wine culture of Shang nationality. In Chinese history, as a businessman from the coast of Bohai Sea, he was famous for drinking. It is not only documented that merchants are good at drinking, but also more and more confirmed by archaeological data. In 1955, four tombs of the middle Shang Dynasty were excavated in Baijiazhuang, Zhengzhou. Among the six types of artifacts unearthed, ten wine vessels, such as Jue and Gu, accounted for two-thirds of the total. Ten late Shang tombs were found in Xiaotun before the founding of the people's Republic of China. Thirty five wine vessels of ten kinds were unearthed, accounting for almost five sixth of the unearthed objects. This shows that the merchants attached great importance to wine. Even in the tombs of ordinary civilians, Gu and Jue became indispensable martyrs. It can be seen that Yin people, rich or poor, had a drinking habit. Since all the merchants are good at drinking, they can't help gathering people to drink. When the number of people is large, the small pit of "drinking without respect" can't meet the demand, and the small pit becomes the so-called wine pool. However, King Zhou's wine pool is not so simple to chisel, there must be a series of supporting artificial ancillary buildings, including artificial landscape. Archaeologists found a large-scale stone pool in the first capital of Shang Dynasty, Yanshi City, Henan Province, which confirmed the existence of the imperial pool of Shang Dynasty. The "pool" discovered by archaeologists in the Shang city of Yanshi is similar to the historical records. It is a pool for the entertainment of the Shang emperors. At the same time, according to the actual investigation, there are many wells near the pool, and the wells are juxtaposed with the pool, which can prove that the main function of the pool is not to provide domestic water, it is likely to be the wine pool recorded in historical records.

Third, the complex political environment. We say that there was no shortage of beautiful mountains and lush forests in ancient times. Why did we build artificial ponds and landscapes? This is mainly due to the frequent conflicts between the central government and the surrounding tribes during the Xia and Shang Dynasties, and the constant struggle between the interest groups within the government. Emperors often lived deep in the high wall moat for peace, lost the opportunity to contact with the natural landscape, so they began to build artificial landscapes for their own enjoyment.
